Homemade Explosive Found In Lincoln: Fire Officials Investigating Remains

Fire officials are investigating a homemade explosive device found near the intersection of 23rd and Van Dorn.

Lincoln Fire and Rescue spokesperson Nany Crist says the device was discovered around 2:20 P.M yesterday by a man who was picking up trash before mowing his lawn.

“(He) called the fire department along with the duty inspector,” says Crist, “it was suspected by the fire inspector to be an explosive device.”

She says the device was disposed of at on offsite location by a Lincoln Fire and Rescue robot and addsthe device was about the size of a fist.

Crist says  the Department of Fire Prevention is investigating exactly what the bomb was made out of and will be canvassing the area it was found in.

It is not known at this time how powerful the device was or what it was intended for.
