A new initiative to develop a climate action plan for Lincoln was unveiled Thursday by Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird. She says we want to make sure we leave this city better then we found it for our children and grandchildren.
Gaylor Baird says we no longer do we have to imagine how severe weather events might impact our safety, economy and our quality of life. She cites the current flooding in central Nebraska and the historic flooding across the state this spring.
Mayor Gaylor Baird will appoint a Climate Resiliency Task Force to work on the year-long process that will include public forums.
Gaylor Baird says the “time to act is now.”
