Lincoln Police Department Comes Out On Top In Annual Battle Of the Badges Blood Drive Competition

Lincoln Police and Lincoln Fire and Rescue once again did battle to raise awareness about the importance of donating blood.

The friendly annual competition, dubbed Battle of the Badges, pits LFR vs. LPD to see who can get more blood donations on behalf of either department.

This year, LPD won by a narrow 3 votes.

For their efforts, LPD received a trophy and, of course, bragging rights over their firefighter partners.

Police Chief Jeff Bliemeister says he plans to put the trophy in the media room of the police department to serve as a reminder of how influential LPD can be.

As part of the “penalty” for losing, LFR crews will have to participate in picnic-shelter cleanup duties with Lincoln’s Parks and Recreation department.
